Experience music and music-making in all its forms and facets! At Musikmesse, you can hear live music of all styles and kinds on several stages. Waiting for you, too, are lectures on topics of key relevance to the sector, workshops and clinics, together with the new special topic ‘Music Education’. Major award ceremonies and the Musikmesse Festival, to be held both at the Exhibition Centre and around the City, make Frankfurt, for four days, the musical capital of the world.
European Songwriting Award
For the third time now Messe Frankfurt and the organisers of the German Songwriting Awards will be bringing a highlight for the international songwriter and producer community to Musikmesse: the finale of the European Songwriting Awards and SongsCon! The European Songwriting Awards carry the motto: "Write a Song – Change the World." Thus the competition offers creative artists from all over the world an opportunity to present their songs to an expert jury. The winners in the singer-songwriter category will go straight into the studio, to record their prize-winning songs.
SongsCon is the first convention in Europe devoted especially to songwriters and producers. A network platform with a highly varied range, designed to promote direct contact between the creative minds "behind the song" and the decision makers in the music industry. Along with song pitches, there will be a masterclass and an A&R panel.
‘Randy Rhoads Remembered’ memorial show celebrates European premiere at Musikmesse (2. April)
He is reckoned to be one of the most influential guitarists of all time. In 1980, Randy Rhoads played his way into the history books of rock music as the congenial partner of Ozzy Osbourne on the legendary ‘Blizzard of Ozz’ album. 40 years later, at Musikmesse the ‘Randy Rhoads Remembered’ project is set to provide a musical memorial to the American guitarist who died far too young. ‘Randy Rhoads Remembered’ is more than a concert. It is a tribute to a seminal period in the development of rock and honours a lifetime achievement. Initiator and drummer Brian Tichy and a group of prominent musicians with a number of guest guitarists will be performing songs from the albums ‘Blizzard of Ozz’ and ‘Diary of a Madman’. Inimitable greats such as bass player Phil Soussan and the guitarists Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal and Christian Brady will play together and all artists can also be seen and heard at workshops and clinics held as part of Musikmesse.
