From 2010 to 2016 Ida Nielsen supplied the punchy bass providing the underline in Prince's band. Following the death of the pop genius, Nielsen from Denmark has been pursuing her solo career – with increasing success. If you like funk, you will love Ida Nielsen. Patrick Dorcean (drums) and Oliver Engqvist (guitar) complete the line-up of the Ida Nielsen Trio.

On Wednesday evening friends of hand-made guitar music can expect a full programme, featuring the international artistes of Baton Rouge. Among those taking part will be Russian fingerstyle artiste Alexandr Misko, French acoustic newcomer Illona Bolou, plus Janek Petz (Poland), Janet Noguera (USA) and Phil Adam (Germany).

Marco Mendoza, the celebrated bass guitarist of The Dead Daises, will be appearing on Thursday evening together with the young Newcastle drummer Kyle Hughes and guitarist Tommy Gentry in trio under the motto "Viva la Rock."

The ‘Les Paul Night’ presents legendary songs from the late fifties, as well as the sixties and seventies, which were decisively influenced by the characteristic Les Paul sound. Although the focus is on the instrument, the line-up is also in a class of its own. Among those rocking through three decades of music history will be Scorpions guitarist Matthias Jabs, as well as Thomas Blug, Peter Weihe and Drew Berlin. The set list covers the spectrum from the Rolling Stones, via Led Zeppelin and Eric Clapton, to Wishbone Ash.

Les Paul Night on Friday: Gibson sounds live on stage!

The weekend starts at 19.00 hrs on Friday evening with a unique concert experience for classic rock fans. The ‘Les Paul Night’ presents legendary songs from the late fifties, as well as the sixties and seventies, which were decisively influenced by the characteristic Les Paul sound. The Les Paul Night will be held in Forum.0 and is part of the Musikmesse Festival with evening concerts at the Exhibition Centre and in the city’s clubs.
