Saturday 4.4.2020, Acoustic Stage, Hall 3.1
The fourth day of the fourth month: when it comes to the popular four-string instrument, the date says it all. Which means you can look forward to a sparkling and interesting stage programme with ‘Flight Ukulele’, showing the ukulele in all its musical facets. From jazz and blues to swing and orchestra formations, you will be amazed at just how versatile the ukulele is.
‘Flight Ukulele’, which celebrate their tenth birthday on this day, have also invited six young, talented artists to joint them. For example, Dani Usero from Spain and The Ukuleleaves from Bamberg.
Other acts of the day include:
- The ‘Low Gs’, a ukulele jazz ensemble from Frankfurt.
- Marcella Hagenauer (ukulele teacher from the Rodgau district) with her ukulele orchestra of the ‘Freie Musikschule Rodgau’.
- Iso Herquist, the ukulele star from Frankfurt with his own ukulele school, who will present a lively mix of jazz, blues and swing.
The absoluter top act is England’s ukulele legend, Peter Moss, who has been presenting a wonderful and vibrant ukulele programme on the stage for 50 years. He plays jazz and swing in the style of ‘Wizard of the Uke’ Roy Smeck. In demand around the world, there is hardly a major ukulele festival at which Peter Moss has not appeared – from Australia and New Zealand, via the USA and Canada, to Germany.
Additionally, there will be two ‘open mic’ sessions where hobby ukulele players can perform on stage for five minutes and play the ukulele under the guidance of Peter Moss.
The Ukulele Day is presented by ‘The Ukelele Ambassador’, Diana All.
