Musikmesse, Europe’s biggest trade fair of its kind with a clear B2B / B2P focus, will open its doors from 2 to 5 April 2019. On Saturday, 6 April, Messe Frankfurt is launching a completely new type of event: Musikmesse Plaza is aimed specifically at consumers who can not only purchase instruments and lifestyle articles but also take part in a wide‑ranging programme of events. Concurrently (2 to 6 April), the Musikmesse Festival presents concerts at the Exhibition Centre and at over 40 venues throughout Frankfurt.
Musikmesse (2 to 5 April)
Europe’s biggest trade fair for the music sector
Musikmesse is Europe’s leading showroom for products and services related to active music making since 1980. There, international exhibitors present their latest products, from guitars and basses, via string, wind and keyboard instruments, to sheet music and equipment. Moreover, the fair is rounded off by a brim-full programme of workshops, master classes, clinics, lectures, seminars and musical performances. With a new slot covering four working days (Tuesday to Friday), Musikmesse is reinforcing its profile as a business and information platform for international professionals.
Day tickets for Musikmesse are available online for € 30 (€ 40 on arrival). They also entitle the holder to visit Prolight + Sound, the ‘Global Entertainment Technology Show’, which is once again being held synchronously with Musikmesse on all four days for the first time since 2015. Additionally, visitors receive a free wristband for the Musikmesse Festival. They can also visit the Musikmesse Plaza on Saturday with no extra costs.
Musikmesse Plaza (6 April)
Pop-up Market: Gear. Vintage. Lifestyle.
On the Saturday following the fair, Frankfurt will move all faders to full blast: the new Musikmesse Plaza offers an innovative event concept focusing on consumers and music lovers. Together with partners from the creative sector, Messe Frankfurt is organising a pop-up market with multi-faceted thematic worlds covering the spectrum from vintage instruments, via records, to merchandising. There, companies have the opportunity to present their products in this attractive setting and sell them directly to consumers. The highlights of Musikmesse Plaza include the ‘Vintage Guitar Show’ with legendary instruments of music icons, at which visitors can buy, sell and exchange guitars, as well as a CD and vinyl bourse, the ‘Discover Music’ area for youngsters wanting to find out more about music and playing an instrument and a whole-day concert programme at the Exhibition Centre.
Tickets for Musikmesse Plaza cost just € 5.
Musikmesse Festival (2 to 6 April)
Culture and concert highlights throughout Frankfurt
For the fourth time running, Musikmesse Festival will fill the whole city with extra-special musical events at over 40 venues. Many events are also being held at the Exhibition Centre after the fair closes for the day. Thus, highlights will take place at the Festhalle Frankfurt, Congress Centre Messe Frankfurt, the Festival Arena, on the outdoor area and on the Circle Stages in the halls. Three shows are scheduled for the Festhalle Frankfurt alone: the Samy Deluxe Unplugged Show (4 April), the BigCityBeats Birthday with Timmy Trumpet (5 April) and the closing concert by soul legend Gregory Porter (6 April). The Musikmesse Festival opening ceremony will be held together with the Grand Finale of the International German Piano Award in Frankfurt’s ‘Alte Oper’ concert hall on 1 April.
The Festival wristband is free of charge for Musikmesse visitors or can be purchased in the online shop for € 15. Wristband holders benefit from discounts or even free admission for Musikmesse Festival events. Additionally, they can visit the Musikmesse trade fair free of charge on the Friday of the fair (5 April) as well as the Musikmesse Plaza on Saturday (6 April) – on all other days, the Exhibition Centre is open to wristband holders from 17.00 hrs.
