Musikmesse 2005: initial trends, initial exhibitor numbers

Rythm’n Business will be both motto and the name of the game at Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre from 6 to 9 April. More than 1,400 manufacturers and sales organisations from all around the globe have already booked their exhibition stands. And more are expected. "All the signs are that we will have at least as many exhibitors at the Musikmesse 2005 as last year", says Cordelia von Gymnich, Vice President, Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH. "Perhaps there will be even more."

The sector has four days in which to show its innovations and to place orders for the subsequent months. This year, the Musikmesse will begin an hour earlier. Hence, the doors will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., which means guests will have an extra hour for business and talks, as well as for events and work-shops.

Hall for Hall – this is where its at
Musical instruments, music software, computer hard-ware, sheet music and accessories will be clearly arranged by product groups in ten exhibition halls. Thus, impulses in the field of software and hardware for electronic music production and processing are expected in Hall 5.1 and Forum 0. Also in Hall 5.1, visitors will find a complete range of equipment for DJs and VJs as well as be able to see the German round of the World DJ Championship, which is being held for the first time at the Musikmesse. The sound in Hall 4.0 will be made by electric guitars, basses and amplifiers while Hall 5.0 presents keyboards, digital pianos and organs. Hall 6.0 will show how the avant-garde of the brass and woodwind sector sets the tone. The emphasis in the Piano Salon (Hall 1.1) is classical, as it is in Hall 6.1 with an area for plucked and string instruments. Percussion instruments are located in Hall 3.0; sheet music in Hall 3.1.

Rounding off the overall programme of the Musikmesse will be a variety of events, concerts, prize presentations and workshops. In addition to appearances by guest stars, young bands will once again also have the chance to make career-enhancing performances.
