SchoolJam Band Festival

Eight finalist bands to appear on the Agora Stage of the Musikmesse. Qualifying round attracted nationwide attention.

The final round of the SchoolJam School Band Festival is set to be highly exciting. For the eight bands, excitement will not only be generated by the coaching from illustrious personalities from the chart scene, such as DJ Tomekk, Kuddel of the Tote Hosen, Reamonn, BAP, Laith Al-Deen and Seeed, but also by the opportunity to appear on the Agora stage in front of a large audience on Friday evening. Furthermore, the finalist bands also have the chance to win a variety of prizes. The 'prize of honour' for the victorious band will be an appearance in the supporting programme of this summer's 'Rock am Ring' at the Nürburgring motor-racing circuit.

High degree of awareness
60,000 German schools took part in this competition, which was organised in cooperation with Musik Media Verlag publishing company, the German Music Council (Deutscher Musikrat e.V.), the Association of German School Musicians (Verband deutscher Schulmusiker), the 'Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten' (Good times, bad times) internet portal and GIGA TV young people's television station. This cooperation ensured a high degree of awareness of this year's Musikmesse. Therefore, it is not only the appearances of the finalist bands during the SchoolJam that are likely to be well attended.

More than 250 gigs
Performances by internationally renowned artists are a traditional part of the fringe programme of the Musikmesse in Frankfurt. Altogether, more than 250 gigs take place on the various stages around the Exhibition Centre. In addition to the SchoolJam bands, virtuoso artists, such as Daniel Messina (drummer of Barbara Dennerlein) and chart-breaker Haddaway with his 'The Real Groove Band' will be appearing on the Agora stage in the tent on the open-air area.
