The finale of SchoolJam, Germany’s biggest school-band competition, is held every year at the Musikmesse. The eight finalists compete for the title of ‘Germany’s Best School Band’ on a large stage with professional lighting and sound equipment. Against hundreds of other bands, they qualify for the finale in regional heats throughout Germany and internet voting. At the fair, they are judged by a jury of experts from the sector and renowned musicians.
Every year, well-known stars take part in the finale with the school bands on the Musikmesse stage. The winning band can look forward to a concert trip to the USA and – the absolute highlight – the chance to play in front of thousands of music fans at ‘Rock am Ring’, Germany’s biggest open-air festival.
SchoolJam is a collaboration between MM-Musik-Media-Verlag publishing company, the German Music Council (Deutscher Musikrat), the ‘respect’ initiative of the ‘Aktion Mensch’ charity, VIVA and Musikmesse Frankfurt. The Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Young People has also been an official sponsor of SchoolJam since 2006.
